In the faces of so many people. We see the pain, strain, torment, unresolve, anguish, and suffering. One that, to the afflicted, can seem to never end. But to everyone else, mostly unseen.
An intolerable mental prison. One that can often lead to more pain. And the contraction of an even great number of physical conditions. On latest account some 33,000 distinct diseases have been identified in the human condition. Oddly, only about 1% of these diseases’ accounts for the largest area of concern. In terms of both economic and human costs.
MENTAL HEALTH
Psychology, like any other science, has been dissecting the field of study, i.e. the Human Mind, for some time. With a rather large accounting of separate and, so-called, distinguishable diseases of the mind. As in any other field, a large array of what it’s not and so then it must only be this. An inclusive or exclusive orientation of a disease. Or anything, for that matter. We only have so many boxes in which to place a “mental condition” so if it doesn’t fit. I guess we’ll just have to create another one? … Everyone’s got to fit somewhere! Right…?
The truth is, if we are all being honest, any of us can have a “bad day” in the mental health department. In fact, who hasn’t? Late for work. Big day. Everything stacks. Then some emotional derailment. Ouch! Didn’t see that coming! Another test of mental resolve. Sure, “Everybody knows that!”.

The first question when the mental rails waver is, “What’s wrong with me?”, repeating into an echoed distance. The torment of an unresolved mind.
If you keep the question inside, you may have a chance to resolve easily whatever’s going on. But if you make the fatal mistake of talking to someone about it. You may be in for more than you bargained for! You see, they may encourage a diagnosis of some condition, as you have learned, that fits the “feelings” and “disturbance” in the moment of wobble. Everyone’s more satisfied that at least you “seem” to now “know” what it is. This thing inside that affects your normal, happy self. But do you…?
You have just created a new set of “self rules” that you agreed, are you? A disfunction in your approval. And, a somewhat unsatisfied satisfaction is attained. Comfort with the “oh well, I guess this is who I am now. Just a little broken. But I can live with that!”. But can you…?
A normal day like any other that just took a bad turn. And now, because of it, you have a new badge of self. A label of “bipolarity” or some other easily applied a psychological band-aid. There’s quite a list to choose from. A badge that gives you some “closure” on the issue. Closure! Are you kidding me…? You just opened it up! You didn’t lose anything!
Next is the exo-seeding stage. The planting. You carefully spread the news of your “clarity of mental dysfunction” to others. So they can now also self-identify to this new warm psychological blanket. And, like you, also find “Closure”. Before you know it, half the world is wearing the latest and most fashionable Dior in mental disease. What’s your preferred “go-to” haven in the process of mental determinism?

Now in the case of diagnosing Children, on similar methods, leaves that label to wobble into a much larger fashionable field of mental mangles. For the rest of their young lives. Into God knows what additional difficulties, pains, and disease.
All occurring because of just One Bad Day that was placed in the wrong drawer. Can anyone just have a bad day…? And leave it at that…?
